It’s funny that I’ve always passed by a Morelli’s, but never stopped by. I’m a bit old school with my Baskin Robbins and Haagen Dazs, however I’m not one to shy away from a much lighter gelato, which is all what Morelli’s is about.
I stepped into the purple and white store which is the same level as the Fountains and located next to Divan Patisserie. This was my fifth #Nomwithme event, and I was so happy to have successfully met five of my blog readers to date. I’m feeling pretty damn special. 🙂
Anyway, back to Morelli’s. I did a bit of background research and was very happy to see that it’s a fifth generation Italian family business that first had its humble beginnings in the U.K. back in the 1900’s. Morelli’s serves gelato at its finest, with massive quantities but none of the heaviness of regular ice cream.
D.R. and I opted to try the waffle, the banana royale, a berry sorbet and a white chocolate Santa pop.
Look how excited I am. Shameless indugence.
Here’s a close up:
Out of the two, I really enjoy the banana caramel. The berry one was a bit too tart for me. We also tried their waffle, which was surprisingly soft, just how I like ’em.
The only downside for me was the Santa bar. It looked adorable, but it was exceedingly sweet, mainly because of the white chocolate.
Overall, great times were had with D.R. at Morelli’s! Will definitely pay them a visit any time I want to indulge without all the heaviness!
DISCLOSURE: Was invited over to Morelli’s for a complimentary tasting in exchange for a review.
